Warriors secure its spot for an NBA finals rematch with Cavs

Golden State Warriors defeated Oklahoma City Thunders in a 96-88 run in the Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Finals in Oracle Arena yesterday.

Splash Brothers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson led the 73-win Warriors to the NBA finals where they will face once more the Cleveland Cavaliers on their way to achieving a two-peat championship following their success in the championship of last year’s league finals.

Warriors overcame the 3-1 lead made by the Thunders earlier in the Conference Finals and faced three elimination games in which the team emerged victorious despite the pressure-laden Game six held in the home court of OKC, Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Back-to-back MVP, Steph Curry scored a game-high 36 points with seven 3-pointers shaking up the whole Arena. A 29-12 run in the third quarter opened an 11-point lead entering the fourth quarter of the game. Klay Thompson added 21 points with six 3-pointers to follow up his record-breaking performance in Game 6 last Saturday with a playoffs record of 11 3-pointers in a single game which led to yesterday’s deciding Game 7.

Warriors will face Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals in Oakland on Thursday which will be aired on Friday morning, in Philippine Time. (Kathleen Vicho)
