Administration standard bearer Mar Roxas on Friday slammed anew Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s penchant for lying as he showed proof that the tough-talking mayor is lying anew, this time on the existence of a hidden dollar account at the same Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) where an alleged multi-million peso account was deposited.
Acting on an expose by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV that Duterte also have several hidden dollar accounts, Roxas’ camp decided to investigate if one of the dollar account really existed.
“Today, USD10 was deposited in one of these accounts at nakikita na ito’y nakapangalan kay Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sara Duterte. USD10 was accepted; sa BPI din po ito,” the Liberal Party candidate said.
“Kaya yung sinasabi niya na wala siyang dollar accounts, muli, kasinungalingan ito. It has now been proven. Mayor Duterte, time’s up. Tell the truth,” Roxas said.
The former Interior and Local Government Secretary noted that while the existence of the dollar account has now been exposed, Duterte has yet to either fully explain or fully acknowledge what is in the peso account.
Besides the dollar accounts, the Davao City mayor has been accused by Trillanes of having hidden wealth amounting to PHP211 million stashed at the BPI branch in Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City.
Duterte earlier denied the existence of the said account only to recant and admit it Thursday.
The front-running presidential candidate, who also earlier urged his rivals to open all their bank accounts, then decided not to sign a bank secrecy waiver and stated that he would only do so if and when a case has already been filed in court.
“Pabago-bago ang salita, pabago-bago ang posisyon ni Mayor Duterte. Ito ang kanyang pattern. Ano ba talaga? Maasahan ba yung sinasabi mo? May isang salita ka ba? Ang nakikita ng kababayan natin, you speak with a forked tongue. You speak with both sides of your mouth. Wala kang isang salita, Mayor Duterte,” Roxas said.
“Magpakatotoo po tayo, Mayor Duterte. Inaasahan ng mga kababayan natin ang buong katotohanan at walang iba. Katotohanan lang po ang siyang inaantay ng ating mga kababayan,” he said. (PNA)
