CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Friday arrested Senator Leila de Lima over three drug-related criminal cases.
De Lima, who was at the Senate, did not resist arrest headed by Chief Supt. Roel Obusan.
She was brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
Ronnie Dayan, De Lima’s former bodyguard and lover for seven years, was arrested at around 7:00 p.m. on February 23 in Pangasinan.
Dayan was detained at PNP – Pangasinan Headquarters.
Rafael Ragos, former deputy director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), has yet to be arrested.
De Lima, Dayan, and Ragos were ordered arrested by Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 204 Judge Juanito Guerrero after the latter found probable cause to try the drug charges against the three.
Their cases are based on the charges filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) before the Muntinlupa City RTC.
De Lima’s lawyers have questioned various concerns on the senator’s arrest that are called in the judicial branch of government as “technicalities.”
De Lima, Dayan, and Ragos cases are non-bailable charges.
