THIS is the worst thing that happened in illegal drugs activities of some people: while the parents are sniffing shabu, in front of the children and a baby.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency –  National Capital Region (PDEA – NCR) have apprehended 11-month-old boy, six children, 8 alleged drug den maintainers, and 22 others who are allegedly drug users.

PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña on Thursday disclosed to the media its operations on February 20 in Paco Public Market in Manila after the pieces of evidence were properly and legally evaluated and validated.

The seven children together with the 11-month-old boy have been transferred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Lapeña said.

He said the operation were jointly headed by PDEA – NCR Wilkins Villanueva, PDEA-Special Enforcement Services (PDEA-SES) Director Ismael Fajardo, and PDEA K9 Director Lexington Alonzo, but was coordinated with Manila Police District – Paco Police Community Precinct.

According to Villanueva, the 5:30 p.m. operations yielded

64 transparent plastic sachets containing 51 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu and various drug paraphernalia.

The said shabu has an estimated market value of P208,000.

Villanueva said Sagcal, Elizalde, Usi, Acido, Ayson, Permejo, Calixto, and Madid were slapped in court for violating Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Cases for violation of Section 7 (Visitors of a Drug Den) of the anti-drug law will also be filed against the 22 alleged users.

Lapeña said “It is becoming more troubling that illegal drugs are open to the public and loosely sold.”

But he vowed to their job since PDEA was directed by President Rodrigo Duterte to lead the government’s battle against illegal drugs in the country.
