Director Oscar Albayalde, head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Metro Manila, has strongly urged the public to remain vigilant as heightened alert status stays in Metro Manila.
Albayalde said the public should not be worried during holiday season as the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is on a tight guard against criminal elements specially terrorists to ensure that the public is fully safe and protected during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He said the assurance of peace and safety in Metro Manila will extend until the end of 2017 since the Philippines is the host of ASEAN Summit next year.
He said he already cancelled all vacation leaves of policemen in Metro Manila during Christmas and New Year celebration.
Albayalde assigned at least 10 cops in every biggest Catholic Churches in National Capital Region, including in the Baclaran and Quiapo Churches.
Checkpoints will also be set-up in all major roads.
About 100 policemen were assigned in Divisoria Market, while all malls in Metro Manila will get their cops for the safety and peaceful shopping of the residents.
Aside from all these things, Albayalde said the NCRPO has already its preparation for the celebration of the Black Nazarene feast and Miss Universe affair, both are scheduled in January.
At the same time, NCRPO policemen will be very busy for the whole year-round next year because the Philippines is the host for the ASEN Summit.
