ILOCOS Sur Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas accused Senator Leila de Lima of committing the crime of obstruction of justice for giving Ronnie Dayan an advice not to attend the congressional hearing about the supposed link of the neophyte lawmaker with drug lords.

Fariñas, who is also the majority leader of the House of Representatives, said De Lima could be held in contempt for telling Dayan not to face the House Committee on Justice.

The lawmaker’s statement was made after Dayan disclosed to the justice committee on Thursday’s hearing that De Lima told him not to attend the House probe.

De Lima instead advised Dayan to hide.

Dayan said he instructed his daughter Hannah Mae to contact De Lima and asked her what he should do on the subpoena of the House of Representatives ordering him to attend the hearing.

Dayan received the subpoena on October 1.

Dayan’s revelation was confirmed by his daughter Hannah Mae who said that she texted De Lima that Dayan would attend the House hearing and asked the senator’s “opinion” on his willingness to attend.

Hannah Mae further said that she texted De Lima saying “Hi Tita. Good pm po. Mi pinapatanong po si pah. Mo baket daw po mi dumating na subpwena sa kanya at ano daw  po ggwin nia? [Hello Tita. Good evening po. Papa wants to ask something. Why he got subpoena to him? What he would do on it?]”

Tita was referring to De Lima.

Hannah Mae calls De Lima as “Tita.”

Dayan said De Lima texted his daughter “Pakisabi sa kanya magtago lang siya … magtago lang muna siya. Kagagawan niyan nila Speaker Alvarez at dikta ni Digong. Pagpipistahan lang … pagpipistahan lang siya at kaming dalawa kapag nag-appear siya sa hearing [Tell him to hide … hide for now. That’s the work of Speaker (Pantaleon) Alvarez and dictated by (President Rodrigo) Duterte. They will only feast on him, on the two of us, if he appears at the hearing].”

It appeared that Dayan followed De Lima’s advice since he went into hiding.

Dayan was arrested in La Union at around 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday.

During the hearing, the congressmen expressed cloud of doubts on a number of testimonies of Dayan.

However, the congressmen found and established that Dayan and De Lima have an illicit affair for seven years and Dayan has collected money from Rolan Kerwin Espinosa for De Lima despite inconsistencies on the former’s testimonies.
