FIVE officials and 17 agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) due to their links in drug syndicates.
PDEA Public Information Office (PIO) chief Director Derrick Arnold Carreon said a thorough investigation against them to ascertain the gravity, or level, of their links to the drug syndicates.
After which, appropriate criminal and administrative charges will be filed against them, Carreon said.
He, however, refused to disclose their names due to the on-going investigation.
He said the sacking of the officials and 17 agents by PDEA Director General Isidro Lapena was part of the cleansing of the agency against people in the agency who have been ‘eaten’ by the drug syndicates instead of fighting them.
The five officials and 17 agents have not been touched by former PDEA head Arturo Cacdac.
Cacdac headed PDEA for almost 4 years.
Cacdac himself was accused in the past as a protector of drug syndicate by former PDEA agent Jonathan Morales.
Cacdac has strongly denied the allegations.
